How it works

You pay on Stripe's page, your download buttons appear straight after, and the same links arrive by email. Here's the rest of it, including the boring parts people usually ask about later.

Buying, step by step

One order is one template or one bundle. There's no basket. If you want two templates that aren't in a bundle, place two orders.

Payment is by card or wallet through Stripe. No account to create, no subscription, nothing renews.

Download links

Each link is personal to your order and works for 7 days and 5 downloads per file. That's plenty to get the file onto your work laptop and your home one. It isn't meant for passing round the office (that's what the Team licence is for).

When a link has expired or run out, ask for a new one on the new link page with your email and your order number. You can do that for up to 24 months after your purchase. A new link cancels the earlier ones for that order, and it always gives you the newest version of the file.

Google Sheets templates can differ a little: you get a Sheets-ready .xlsx to import into your own Google account, and where we've set up a "Make a copy" link the download button takes you to Google's copy page instead. The original stays view-only, so nobody sees anyone else's copy.

Will it open on your machine?

Every product page has a table: Yes, Partly or No for each version of Excel, Power BI, Google Sheets or PowerPoint, and "Partly" always comes with a note saying what doesn't work. A few things are true across the whole shop.

  • No macros. Not one file in the shop uses VBA, so there's no yellow "Enable content" bar for our code.
  • Excel files are .xlsx. They avoid features that break on Excel for Mac (Power Pivot, macros), and the dashboards and models avoid dynamic-array formulas so they also run in Excel 2019.
  • Power BI products are starter kits. A .zip with the data model workbook, a theme, the DAX measures and a build guide. You build the report in Power BI Desktop, which is free but runs on Windows only. On a Mac you'd need a Windows virtual machine or the Power BI service.
  • Google Sheets templates run in any current browser. The Sheets phone app is fine for looking, awkward for editing.
  • PowerPoint decks are 16:9 .pptx. They open in Google Slides and Keynote, but native charts turn into pictures there.

How we check

We build every file for the versions marked Yes: no macros, no add-ons, and formulas that stay inside what those versions run. We recalculate every workbook before it goes on sale and check it shows no error values. We haven't tried every setup, so if something doesn't work in yours, tell us and we'll fix it or refund you.

Putting your own data in

Each product page lists the columns that template expects. The routine is the same everywhere.

  1. 1

    Keep the original

Save a copy of the file before you start, so you can always go back to the sample version.

  2. 2

    Find the data sheet

Usually the tab named Data, or Inputs in the financial models. The sample rows show the format: one row per transaction, month or line item.

  3. 3

Paste your rows over the sample

Paste as values and keep the column order and the headers. Dates as dates, amounts as numbers without currency symbols.

  4. 4

    Set the few settings

Currency symbol, first month of your financial year, targets. They sit together on a Settings tab or at the top of the inputs.

  5. 5

    Check, then refresh

Look at the checks, then refresh if the file uses PivotTables (Data, then Refresh All). In Google Sheets everything updates by itself.

Power BI is different. The kit has no data of your own in it: you connect the sample workbook first, build the report pages with the guide, and once it works you point the query at your own file with the same columns.

PowerPoint decks use native charts. Right-click a chart, choose Edit Data, and paste your numbers into the little sheet that opens.

If your data looks nothing like our columns (three systems, odd exports, a CSV with 40 columns), that's a custom work job, and we're happy to quote it.
